Back on the right track

Velikonja 88. (11m)

“I am certain this goal will change things for me. I will become more confident. I am a striker and I want to score goals. I played some good matches but I wasn’t happy with the lack of goals. But it is important now that we are once again creating scoring opportunities.”

Dear Lierse fans, friends, staff, players!

I would like to thank you all of you for all your support and for great time we spent together! I made my decision and decided that it is time to go forward. For me it is not easy to go away from amazing people, who gave me a lot of joy on and off the pitch. But from my side it is not a good bye but hopefully see u soon! I am sure Lierse is on the right track to be successful and will soon be where it belongs!

I wish to the fans, teammates, staff, friends all the best in the following season and SEE U SOON!

Great finish of a successfull season

Hi everyone.

2015/2016 season is over. It was difficult, but also successfull. I managed to achieve my goals to play regularly and show what I am capable of. Lierse finished seventh in the league and stayed among professional Belgium football clubs. I am also pleased with my results, I played 29 games and scored 25 goals and I finished as the best scorer in the league. I am proud to rank this achievement among my career highlights.

25 goals ranked me among top five scorers in the Belgium second division in this century. The coaches of second tier clubs also ranked me among the three best players of the season. And of course, it was a huge honour that Lierse fans picked me as a their “player of the season”.

I returned home from Belgium after I visited Lier City Hall, where Slovenian flag was put on display. What a great honour that was! With all there lovely memories I am starting my vacations now.

Bye bye, yours Etien

Free kick practice :)

Let’s get busy

Holidays, where are you?:) It was sweet, but short. We’re back at training for quite some time now. We trained in Portugal, in a city called Faro, in the south of the country. We also played two friendly games and saw what we have to improve. We start again on Sunday, when we play our first league game this year, our opponent is Union Saint-Gilloise.

For the year 2016… I just want to stay healthy this year, I’m confident we will be successfull.

Have a good time, unitl next time, Etien

Happy Holidays to all of you

Thank you so much for your support throughout this year. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you. Yours, Etien

You asked, I answered

Hi guys. Thank you very much for your questions. I did my best and posted the answers. Cheers, Etien:)

Is it true that you were contacted by Antwerpen?

I know nothing regarding this subject. There are and there weren’t any contacts.

Which former Lierse player do you consider to be a good acquisition for the club?

Hard to say. I think Lierse got an experiensed and positive person with Eric Van Meir.

Is it possible for you to score 26 goals this season?

I will score 27:). To be honest, I don’t burden myself with goals, it only matters that we win matches.

Will you leave in January?

It is hard to say. I’m loaned to Lierse until the end of the current season. I’m thinking only of Lierse, training and our matches.

Would you cut your hair if Lierse wins the title?

No, no. I finally got my hair back. But I promise I will do my best that we cut Brahim Sabaouni’s hair.

Who is the best player you played with?

At Gorica were Milan Osterc and Enes Demirović and Marcos Tavares at Maribor. Craig Bellamy at Cardiff City… Here at Lierse Boban Bajković, Daniel Mojsov and Joan Capdevila. In the national team Samir Handanović, Jan Oblak and Valter Birsa. Bellamy was the biggest star among them.

When can we expect you back in the best Slovenian club?

Hard to answer. When the moment is right:).

How do you rate your move to Cardiff City today? Was it good or bad? Was it too fast?

I think it was a good move. It didn’t happen too fast. I acchieved everything in Slovenia. An offer came and Maribor accepted it. I believed that I can be successfull in Cardiff. Unfortunately things turned out different, but I tried. I always knew how to fight back and I think I showed that this year.

Was leaving Maribor your wish?

I didn’t force the move. An offer came, we were all satisfied. I found out about it one day before I eventually signed the contract.

For which club do you wish to play at least one match?

For Real Madrid. I would like to play el clasico against Barcelona.

Has Srecko Katanec called you?

No. I don’t bother myself with this. Our national team played very good matches recently. They are a good team and I hope that I will be a part in the future.

Dear fans, thank you

Hello, dear fans.

I just want to say huge thanks to all of you who are supporting me (I saw the Slovenian flag at the stands) and Lierse team. It’s a big help on our way to achieve better results in the Proximus League. We knew from the start that this season is going to be hard for Lierse. Nevertheless, the workload under our new coach is great, we are training hard and are preparing for the next match. I am sure that there are better times ahead of us.

Despite some bad results in the past I am still very happy to be here, in Lier. It was the right move for me, because I feel great here with my girlfriend Maja and with regular playing time I started to score goals. I noticed that the atmosphere surrounding the club is getting better and better which is wonderful. See you at the stadium!

Yours, Etien

Time off, kids and work, work, work…

After a short stop at home in Slovenia I’m already back at training in Lier. Our next opponent in the league is White Star Bruxelles (Saturday, 20.00, Bruxelles), our goal is victory. We are training really hard this week, but we still managed to find some time to invite school kids to train with us. They were nice, we took many pictures and selfies, signed some autographs and presented them with small gifts. We all had a great time. Now, back to work…

Yours, Etien
